SAFETY

injury or illness is of such consequence to this belief that it will be

given top priority at all times.

MTC considers no aspect of its operation or administration more                                            important than the health and safety of its employees. This is achieved by maintaining safe and healthy working conditions and by fostering a culture focused on awareness, communication, education, effective supervision and safe working methods.

MTC initiates safety training programs and maintains accident prevention plans. Each individual, from executive management to field person and administration, is responsible for their personal safety and health as well as for those in their charge and their co-workers. By accepting mutual responsibility to operate safely, we all contribute to the well-being of personnel.

MTC’s dedicated safety staff are tasked with administering safety policies through the ranks; this includes continuing education and research to stay on-top of the newest industry standards, educating supervisors and field personnel, implementation and regular audits to ensure understanding and compliance. Random safety audits are a regular part of our operations and are performed to ensure that personnel fully understand the hazards of the work they are performing and guarantee that their safety and the safety of co-workers is the priority.

MTC’s employee-elected safety committee meets regularly to address staff concerns; they work hard to ensure that every employee has a voice and that their needs are recognized. Information is gathered and developed to present new ideas, including staff incentive programs, safety education and new equipment, to executive management to effect positive changes that empower staff and create a consistent and cohesive work environment.

In order to ensure consistently safe practices, MTC has developed an in-house, online resource and reference tool with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for every procedure we perform ranging from trenching and excavation work to structural steel inspection. Our President, safety staff, managers and supervisors regularly attend training classes, safety seminars, webinars and have aligned ourselves with other industry safety professionals. We’ve developed a strong relationship with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (LNI) and have partnered with them for inspection of our laboratory and policies and have received a grade of in full-compliance.

The president of MTC, Terri McCullough, fully supports the safety team and is 100% engaged in the process of continuing education and mandating the safest practices in the industry.

MTC’s daily goal is zero work related injuries and illnesses!!

At MTC, we believe that each employee has the right to derive personal

satisfaction from his or her job, and the prevention of  occupational
